The Halfmarathon in Ras Al-Khaimah (RAK) proved to be a high level competition again. I hardly get beaten by 13 women, but Africas finest in mens and womens running were gone from the start.
I unfortunately was in no-mans-land as the top runners were in front and the age group guys behind.
I managed to cruise along at reasonable pace, 34:00 first 10km, slightly fading on the next 10km to find myself being caught by another guy who obviously ran supersteady.
After some supportive cheering from my one-girl-crew Ina, that translates into: ”Move you lazy !$&§” I was able to find 5th gear, I wouldn’t dare to call it a sixth, and took of.
1:12:25 isn’t intimidating but another stepping stone on the way.
